Times are tough at the moment for small businesses, many of which can be found on Etsy. To support their sellers, Etsy has created the #StandWithSmall campaign to help encourage people to buy from small business owners and help them out at this uncertain time.
Today I am focussing on sustainable clothing brands on Etsy, but for more inspiration you can check out the #StandWithSmall Editor’s Picks.
If you are conscious about the ethical and environmental impact of clothing, Etsy is a great place to head to as many of the independent sellers will be selling clothes they have made my hand, upcycled or sourced responsibly. Plus, you’re more likely to find something unique and interesting that almost no-one else has.
So without further ado, here are my favourite sustainable clothing UK brands on Etsy…
This store has a large selection of very well priced vintage clothing- can you get much more sustainable than second hand clothing?
InVogueToVintage have lots of items listed in their store which wouldn’t look out of place in Zara! Definitely head here if you love following trends, but also want to shop more sustainably.
Little Barn Co. have the most adorable, affordable baby rompers- all of which are handmade in the UK. One of these rompers would make a gorgeous gift for a new baby, and at price points from £12-£18, they won’t break the bank either.
NHByHand sells gorgeous handmade womenswear pieces- again, all at very reasonable prices. I love her two piece co-ord sets, which feature beautiful floral prints and summer ginghams. You can also purchase mini dresses and separates in her well-stocked store.
All items are made to order, and available in UK sizes 4-18. All designed and handmade in Britain- how’s that for ethical?!
RockMyVintageDress is a UK based vintage store, with the most incredible selection of high end vintage gowns. We’re talking silks, couture, and 1920s beading.
You can even find an antique wedding dress for sale!
Vintage clothing stores are a sure fire way to reach a more sustainable wardrobe. With vintage clothing being made from higher quality fabrics and techniques, you can be sure that these clothes will last another lifetime.
Uncaptive is a brilliant ethical Etsy store- I love their bamboo t-shirts. But they also have so many other wonderful natural products for sale like shampoo bars, organic lip balm, and rapeseed candles. If you purchase one of their t-shirts, you’ll find it hard not to put anything else in your basket!
I adore the bomber jackets that this Etsy store sells- they are upcycled from saris. Made in India, their jackets are super unique. And at £50, you are getting a seriously premium product for the price.
I’m a little bit obsessed with the adorable hand knitted baby cardigans from MyCraftyStitches. With cardigans starting from £12.50, this is a very affordable and sustainable option for baby clothing. The perfect gift for a newborn!
Y.O.U is an ‘organic cotton underwear brand that does good.’ For every Y.O.U bralette you buy, the store donates two pairs of underwear to the charity Smalls for All.
Not only will you be helping do good by buying from this brand, but you’ll also be the new owner of some delightfully soft new underwear. It’s a win-win.
Hopefully you have got some inspiration to head to Etsy and purchase something from one of these sustainable clothing brands! I’ve certainly been considering my clothing choices more and more over the last few years. There is no time like the present to support small companies and help reduce our carbon footprint on this earth!
